Income · 8 min read

Build portable income around what you already know.

The best first step is often a clear offer for a skill you already have.

People overcomplicate the first offer because they think they need a new identity. Often they need a buyer, a painful problem, a small promise, and a way to deliver consistently.

List what you can do

List the problems people already trust you to solve. Include emergencies, confusing transitions, recurring maintenance, and work that requires judgment. Evidence beats a long list of tools.

Sell one clear result

“I do technology” is not a product. “I will diagnose your broken follow-up workflow in 90 minutes and leave you with a prioritized fix list” is much closer. A defined outcome makes price, scope, and delivery easier to understand.

Automate the small parts

  • Collect inquiries with a simple form.
  • Send a clear confirmation and next step.
  • Track every contact and follow-up.
  • Use templates for repeatable work, not for pretending every buyer is identical.

Automation should save your time for work that needs your judgment. It should not count emails when no money comes in.

Leverage is not doing nothing. It is making the useful part of your work repeatable.
