Run a two-week test

Choose a place with reliable internet and a low logistical burden. Keep the trip short. Work normal hours for at least five days. Notice what breaks: calls, sleep, focus, childcare, equipment, timezone, or the invisible work of maintaining a home.

Make your work easy to take

• Prefer deliverables over constant availability.
• Document recurring work so it can be handed off.
• Use a simple stack you can repair yourself.
• Keep at least one local or relationship-based income lane.

Freedom needs room

A portable life is not only about geography. It is the margin created by lower fixed costs, useful skills, repeatable systems, trusted relationships, and enough savings to absorb surprises.
